There are some debatable issues
surrounding writer's block, some say it is all psycological,
another school of thought centers around self-distraction.
Which theory is correct?, Consider these stratagies
to try and see if they can benefit you. Here is an article
to read...
What's
the solution?
Most writers have various approaches
to writing, however a common occurrence that most writers
will admit they have experienced is that of the mind
being flooded with distractions. This form of writer's
block is accompanied by a sudden overflow of ideas invade
the mind leaving the writer left confused with no clear
direction or essence of the original great thought or
idea. Several other things can ignite writers block.
such as anxiety or stress.
Possible Solutions
Clear the mind. Take a walk in the parkliterally.
Choose a particular place of quiet somewhere that will
help induce calmness. One a topic appear in your mind
jot it down and focus on that one topic. Most writing
is generated from observations from the environment.
Retain the original goal and idea of your basic topic
and keep any new ideas secific. To some degree, it is
a matter of mind control.
Talk to another person about how you can remain
focused on a topic and without permitting a flood of
new unrelated ideas distract from the initial plot of
the story..
an article that appeared in Over Coming Writer's
Block addressed the physical aspects of this condition...
"People who tell you
that physical exercise is important for mental activity
are telling the truth. If nothing's happening on the
computer screen or paper, take a walk around the block.
Hit the treadmill or tennis courts or drive to the gym.
But take your notebook with you. Fresh blood will be
flowing through your brain and jogging might just jog
something loose in your head. It happens."
